Professional soil sensors

RH3S develops and manufactures soil sensors that can measure useful soil properties in a mobile way. On land, underwater, and even in the air. Our soil sensors operate contactlessly and record sensor values and GPS position. The storage of measurement data is fully automated. For the agricultural sector, we have developed unique calculation rules. These make direct control of (Isobus) implements possible. Precision agriculture without a task map. Simple, fast and reliable.

RH3S works with different measurement principles for different applications. Passive gamma sensors are highly suitable for mapping texture and nutrients. The soil sensor systems are used by professional surveyors/service providers, contractors and farmers. Our infrared and near-infrared sensors are used for mapping soil temperature and soil moisture. They are supplied as OEM products for manufacturers.

Sensor systems for surveying, cartography and use

RH3S soil sensors are more than just a sensor. Along with the sensors, we provide software for data storage and data processing. The software is suitable for Windows OS and produces files in formats that can be processed in other software (e.g., .csv and .shp). Below is an overview of our products.

Surveyor

Surveyor is a PG sensor system for mobile mapping of texture and nutrients in the topsoil. The system consists of a PG sensor, a calibration key and software for mapping and spectral analysis. The output is suitable for use and processing in regular GIS software. Surveyor is the product for the professional surveyor and service provider. Surveyor has 2 variants. Supervisor

Supervisor is the flying sister of Surveyor. Supervisor is a PG sensor system for use under a drone for mapping texture and nutrients in the topsoil. The system consists of a PG sensor, a calibration key and software for mapping and spectral analysis. The output is suitable for use and processing in regular GIS software. Optimizer

Optimizer is the technical flagship of RH3S. Optimizer has been developed to perform the mapping of texture and nutrients during a regular field operation and combine it with the real-time application of seeds, fertilisers and crop protection products. The direct control of an (Isobus) implement makes the task map unnecessary. The system consists of a PG sensor, a calibration key and software for mapping and application control. Diver

Diver is a PG sensor system for mapping soils under wet conditions. Think of underwater soils or the soil in a borehole. The system consists of a PG sensor, a calibration key and software for mapping and spectral analysis. The system has a unique power supply to make mapping over long distances possible. Stemp

Stemp is a soil thermometer for mapping surface soil temperature, for example in the seed furrow. The system is based on infrared detection and consists of a sensor and electronic processing unit, suitable for use within a CANbus environment.

Applications in different sectors

RH3S systems are applied in various fields in which reliable insight into the soil is important.

Agriculture

Digital soil information for agronomic applications. Basis for planning and use in (variable rate) fertilising, liming, spraying soil herbicides and seeding & planting. Our sensors are used by the primary sector – arable farming, bulb cultivation and dairy farming – and its agronomic service providers. The information is used for precision agriculture and soil-oriented applications.

Sports & Golf

Soil consultants in the turf sector support managers of sports fields and golf courses in soil-oriented management. This concerns not only maintenance but also construction & renovation. RH3S soil sensors support agronomic and civil engineering standards and decisions. This enables the operator to use the right resources. Whether it concerns the quality of the sand or fertilisation. Digital (soil) information is also implemented in this sector as “precision agriculture” applications.

Nature management

Agricultural plots are regularly converted into nature areas. Nature managers can choose from various measures to impoverish nutrient-rich agricultural soils. Area-wide soil information on texture and nutrient stocks is an excellent way to map and analyse soil properties. It gives the nature manager insight into making the right decisions for nature development. With minimal disturbance at low cost.

Wet geophysical research

Mapping in a wet environment requires specialised sensor systems. Diver was developed by RH3S for this application. The sensor system is suitable for mapping the composition of underwater soils and boreholes. Diver is used by professional surveyors in geophysics.

In various research fields, the digital soil information from our PG sensors is used. Both researchers from manufacturers and universities and universities of applied sciences work with digital soil information from our sensors.
